About us

Our products are hand-crafted and inspired by the wild and ever changing Cornish coast..

Harsh sun, salt spray, wind and rain, these elements shape how we live and gave us the desire to produce climate and nature inspired skin care.

All of our products begin with collecting wild Cornish seaweed..

Armed with a bucket each, some heavy duty bags, two pairs of large scissors and wellington boots, we walk down to our local shore line at low tide, timing is everything, to start hand cutting the top part of the variety of the olive-brown seaweed that we use, (Fucus Serratus). We only cut the top part of the plant, this then has a similar effect to pruning plants in a garden and helps to stimulate regrowth.

We thoroughly bash the freshly cut seaweed on the rocks to knock off any little sea snails that might be hiding in the glistening fronds, then give each handful a good wash in the sea.

Having hand cut enough seaweed to carry, (it is pretty heavy when it is still wet) we carry our loaded bags back up the rocky hill to be laid out on handmade wooden racks to naturally air dry. This process usually takes between two to five days depending on the weather and humidity.

What happens next to the seaweed depends on which of our hand-crafted products it is added to..

For the Pure Seaweed Bath the dried seaweed is put in to our hand-made wooden presses, the seaweed is left to compress then hand cut, combined with Dead Sea Salt and packaged in a netting sleeve, airtight bag and finally into one of our own designed boxes..

Our Pure Seaweed Soap is made at our home by the sea in small batches in the traditional cold process way. Firstly we hand chop the dried seaweed, then infuse it into Olive Oil, this takes 72 hours. The seaweed green Olive Oil is then combined with Coconut Oil, Castor Oil and Lye, with added essential oils of Lemongrass, Lime and Bergamot, to not only bring their individual benefits to the soap, but also to try to impart the refreshing, stimulating, zestyness of the Cornish coastline and ocean. The liquid soap is then poured into one of our hand made moulds left to harden for 24 hours and after being cut by hand, it is left to cure for 2 weeks before being packaged in one of our Pure Seaweed Soap boxes.

The Wild Seaweed Skin Soothers are made in a similar way to the soap, in as much as the starting point is to infuse either Organic Olive Oil or Organic Sunflower Oil, (depending on which soother is being made) with the dried chopped seaweed for 72 hours. However, to these seaweed oil infusions, we also add a carefully selected combination of dried botanical herbs. The aroma released from this combination of seaweed and herbs is wonderfully warming and aromatic, this aroma fills our house when the oils are gently heated to combine the melted Organic Beeswax and Organic Shea Butter. Lavender and Bergamot essential oils are added to our Very Dry Skin soother, which add an extra warming and relaxing aroma to these little pots of skin nourishing, hydrating, protective and moisturising wonder.

Our Organic Rejuvenating Facial Oil also utilises the skin nourishing benefits of wild Cornish seaweed, infused into Organic Jojoba Oil for 72 hours. Jojoba Oil is structurally and chemically very similar to human sebum and is naturally very high in vitamin E and antioxidants. This is then combined with the skin healing benefits of Organic Tamanu Oil, (research has shown Tamanu Oil to have a pronounced positive effect with reducing scarring and in stimulating healthy skin growth) Organic Seabuckthorn Oil, with its impressive nutrient content, twelve times more vitamin C than an Orange, and Virgin Organic Coconut Oil. Then we add the finest grade of Organic essential oils of Lavender, Palma Rosa and Grapefruit which give our facial oil a wonderful skin kindly fragrance.
